November 2, 2011, Plano, Texas – Neiman Marcus Willow Bend will host a ladies luncheon featuring home furnishings designer, Jan Barboglio, on Saturday, December 10, at 11:30 a.m.  The event, which will take place in Gift Galleries, Level Three of Neiman Marcus Willow Bend, will benefit the performance, outreach, and education initiatives of Chamberlain Performing Arts.

Guests at the luncheon will be treated to a presentation by celebrated Dallas designer, Jan Barboglio.  Inspired by her native Mexico, Ms. Barboglio has become one of today’s leading home and gift designers.  Her unique iron creations, infused with glass and wooden accents, are reminiscent of historic Mexico and bring warmth and style to a home’s décor.  Reservations are $50 and can be made by calling Chamberlain Performing Arts at 972-985-1374.

TEXAS INSTRUMENTS FOUNDATION PRESENTS CHAMBERLAIN PERFORMING ARTS’ PRODUCTION OF THE NUTCRACKER

NOVEMBER 25 – 27 AT THE EISEMANN CENTER IN RICHARDSON

Featuring Guest Artists Wendy Whelan and Tyler Angle from New York City Ballet

Chamberlain Performing Arts, the pre-eminent pre-professional ballet company in North Texas, will present its annual production of The Nutcracker Thanksgiving weekend at theEisemann Center in Richardson, Texas.  The production will feature New York City Ballet Principal Dancers Wendy Whelan and Tyler Angle, as well as a combination of company dancers from Chamberlain Performing Arts and students from the Chamberlain School of Performing Arts.

Chamberlain’s traditional rendition of The Nutcracker offers something for everyone in the family.  A light-hearted Christmas tale, set to the music of Tchaikovsky, and showcasing exceptional artistry, this production of The Nutcracker has become a holiday tradition for many North Texas families.  Chamberlain’s production is distinguished by the guest artists from New York City Ballet.  Principal Dancer and Dance Magazine Lifetime Achievement Award Honoree, Wendy Whelan, and New York City Ballet Principal Dancer, Tyler Angle, will dance the roles of the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier.  Together they will perform the Grand Pas de Deux as choreographed by George Balanchine.

“We are thrilled to welcome Tyler Angle to our production for the first time, and to welcome back our good friend Wendy Whelan,” said Kathy Chamberlain, Founder and Artistic Director of Chamberlain Performing Arts.  “The Grand Pas de Deux promises to be a highlight of the performance, and an opportunity for North Texas families to enjoy exceptional artistry at a local venue.  Ticket prices are family friendly, and the venue is readily accessible, so we hope many local families will see this as a festive start to the holidays.”

Chamberlain’s production of The Nutcracker is usually the first of the holiday season in the North Texas area, as well as one of the finest.  Performance times at the Eisemann Center are as follows:

  • Friday, November 25th, 7:30 p.m.
  • Saturday, November 26th, 2:00 p.m.
  • Sunday, November 27th, 2:00 p.m.

Other events associated with Chamberlain’s Nutcracker include the annual Sugar Plum Tea on Saturday, November 26, 2011, at 4:15 p.m., following the Saturday matinee.  Attendees can enjoy teatime refreshments, make crafts, collect autographs, and pose for photographs with the ballet’s main characters, including the Sugar Plum Fairy and her Cavalier.  Tickets are available for $25.  Reservations can be made by calling 972-985-1374.

Chamberlain is also fortunate to be partnering with WFAA’s Santa’s Helpers Toy Drive again this year.  Each patron is encouraged to bring a new, unwrapped gift or toy to each Nutcracker performance they attend.  This allows many underserved children in North Texas to have a happy holiday season.  In other outreach efforts, Chamberlain will continue its tradition of hosting a free Community Connections performance of The Nutcracker on the afternoon of Friday, November 25.  Chamberlain anticipates as many as 1,200 underserved or underprivileged members of the community will attend the ballet.  Since Chamberlain first offered this Community Connections performance in 1991, as many as 26,000 guests have enjoyed this performance of The Nutcracker.

CHAMBERLAIN PERFORMING ARTS APPOINTS CASSI MACQUEEN DIRECTOR OF OUTREACH

November 1, 2011, Plano, Texas – Chamberlain Performing Arts, the premier pre-professional ballet company in North Texas, has appointed Cassi MacQueen to serve as the company’s new Director of Outreach.  In this role, she will be responsible for implementing Chamberlain’s existing outreach and education programs, as well as creating new opportunities for Chamberlain to serve the North Texas Community.  This will involve the supporting schools, senior centers, and other dance education markets.

“We are delighted to have Cassi on board as our Director of Outreach,” said Kathy Chamberlain, Founder and Creative Director of Chamberlain Performing Arts.  “Cassi has worked extensively with our Shining Stars program for special needs children, as well as our free After-School dance programs for at-risk and underprivileged children in Plano, Frisco and McKinney.  She brings great energy and enthusiasm to our outreach efforts, and we know that her dedication will enable us grow our outreach programs in North Texas.”

In addition to her work as the Director of Outreach, Ms. McQueen is the dance instructor for Chamberlain’s outreach programs, as well as an instructor for jazz, modern and composition at the Chamberlain School of Performing Arts, and a choreographer for Chamberlain Performing Arts. Ms. MacQueen began her early dance training in the Dallas area and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Dance from Texas Woman’s University. While in college, she was awarded numerous talent based scholarships and performed extensively throughout the state of Texas. In the summer of 2008, she performed at the National American College Dance Festival, one of the most prestigious dance programs in the country. Ms. MacQueen has trained with professional dance companies such as Battleworks Dance Company, Elledanceworks, and Janice Garret and Dancers and studied with professional artist including John Giffon, Kj Holmes, Tina Marie Custer, Sarah Gamblin, and Jordan Fuchs. Cassi specializes in Dance Education and has taught at multiple studios and public schools in the Dallas metroplex.
